I have been at my church for quite some time and has mainly only heard my own pastor preach. Then he invited us to a conference which stretched over a three day period. Each day, at least 4 different pastors would give a little sermon. Since then our church has also had regular visiting pastors from other churches (PH) who would come and preach for us.
My question is this: Why do they all speak the same? They all accentuate the last letter of their word or sentence with an 'uh", like when they say "God-uh". Ie. "Let fire from hell fall-uh on them-uh" etc. And after the service they would all speak normal again like they would at home. I thought it was just my pastors style of preaching, but now I don't think it is a personal style anymore.
Can someone clarify this for me?

When I first became a Christian, The Pastor's all came from Bible school and were tought to put on a preachers voice, It looks like this is what has happened to the Pastor's that you have listened to. Pastor's and Bible teachers should have thier own natural way of speaking, I'm sure if they did, they would find it easyer and more anointed. |

It is good to put on a "preacher's voice", whatever that might mean, but the Bible tells us that we are all individuals and uniquely formed and made. Why is it then that there is the "need" to all speak in the SAME 'preachers' voice". I have heard many many preachers over the years, and their sermons were not by any means less affective for speaking the way they would at home. Why should/would the pastors like to "copy" eachother? Does it make their sermons more affective by all speaking the same? Is it Biblical to "put on a voice" or by pretending to speak a certain way? |

Every Minister should devalope their own natural way of speaking, and allow the Holy Ghost to use the Minister's own way of speaking, with the anointing to Teach/Preach. |

To be honest, i personally havent heard any preachers speak this way, except for the secular world putting on the preacher stereotype but i believe that we should all be who God made us to be, not what man thinks we should be..Maybe you should ask the preachers why they speak that way? lol |
