Tithing and Giving

It should a joy it is to pay tithes to the kingdom of God. The Bible is emphatic that your tithes (10% of all increase from all sources) is the Lord's money the moment it is recieved. When you understand that the principles of God control this universe, tithing becomes an absolute joy. You cannot tithe from the heart and not be blessed beyond measure. It is a joy to see someone who gets converted and begins to tithe straight away. And as they mature as Christians begin to give even more. Offerings given above your tithes are sometimes harder to obey. We have given God nothing when we pay our tithes but what is biblically required. The tithe is His and belongs in the local church for local ministry. Offerings to support a foreign mission, to bless a visiting evangelist, help finacially establish a new or struggling church, help build or maintain the chuch building, etc... Can release the best and most memorable blessings and miracles in our lives when we go beyond our tithes.

When we take our tithes and put them into offerings, we disobey the Word of God. 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole Nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Mal 3:10). The tithes goes directly to the storehouse (God's house of truth and ministry) and help with meeting the needs of the local church and it's ministers. The offerings go to share in the extra burden of things like Church planting, world evangelism and the needs that arise as the local church lives by faith and continually reaches forward to new and exiting ventures for the kingdom of God. Let us faithfully give tithes, but also be open to the propting of the Holy Spirit to give offerings when He challenges us to do so. He is absolutly faithful to His saints who walk with Him.

I don't understand here when you say how people shouldn't put their tithes into offerings. Are you saying that there are two different accounts or ways of putting money into your church, one for offerings and one for tithes? Putting your tithes into the offering plate is wrong?

No, a tithe is a tenth. God says that we are to tithe to support the church (things, chairs, building, rent, etc) and it's workers (i.e. Pastors, evangelists, teachers, prophets, apostles). Offerings are above our tithes, i.e. just say you earned 1000 bucks, you give 100 tithe, but you might want to give more, say 50 bucks, that's an offering. It is just the way it is termed. Like praise and worship. To most praise is a fast song, and worship is a slow song, it is just the way most churches recognize it now days. Christians should tithe regularly, that is God's requirement, offerings are what we give sacrificialy, on top of that. They both go into the same bucket though!

Sometimes when we are in another church or we go to a bible conference, we give money to support it. We shouldn't give our tithes into that, what tithes is for is the Local church. Offerings on top can go to whomever you chose (as long as God is telling you its cool that is).

The article above says:
The offerings go to share in the extra burden of things like Church planting, world evangelism and the needs that arise as the local church lives by faith and continually reaches forward to new and exiting ventures for the kingdom of God.

Usually in our church, we have a pledge, say for a foreign nation, to give a certain amount each week. This is ABOVE the tithes. Hope this help.
