Thatís not an immigration site; thatís a tourism site. Wow Kev, Sydney never looked more stunning! Well done mate, very professional indeed. Sorry I couldn't help you with any professional design feedback. It just looks awesome! I didn't know you were so talented like that.

Itís not cluttered thatís for sure, and itís easy on the eyes,(Iím trying, but Iíve got a feeling thatís not the comment you were after).Sorry.

Thanks for looking Fadi, I appreciate that input - as you know its under construction - about 9 hours so far to build. The longest part is just formatting the supplied text and fixing the supplied dead links.

There was some login buttons where the newspaper picture is - which will have a login for Potentential immigrants, a login for RMA's which are Registered Migration Agents and a login for potential Employers. I removed these temporary so the client can keep that from the competition until it is operational.

The idea is it will take about 50 hours to develop and code - with a a special 3 or 4 part form for the work migration applicant to fill in all the details - this would then be put in a database - then an RMA would take the details and check them and get back to the applicant to let them know if they are qualified or what they need to qualify, and then the applicant could peruse jobs available - or the employer could peruse applicant basics for the qualified applicants for their job.

The main goal - is to have an asthetic site that is not complicated and fairly fast to load considering the size of some of the pages.

I plan on working on this site about 3 days this coming week, and hopefully have it fully framed and the basics of the MSsql database sorted out, there is also a full newsletter email database management page with auto subscribe and unsubscribe - this is half completed, also there is a web admin editing area 1/2 completed that enabels the client to change or modify content as required (but not the main database - or the main design - keeps the site style intact this way and stops stuff ups.)

The site is also going to be fully cross browser compliant CSS/ASP site thats to the current W3C standards.

The target audience will be overseas people who wish to migrate to australia under a permanent or temporary work visa - so i guess an appealing business like site is required within a tight budget(as usual these days)

Thanks again to those who check it out and comment - I can really do with constructive critiscism - and the pointing out of errors.

In your profile, under Occupation, you say: Born Again Christian & other things. Is one of the other things a web designer? So obviously this web site is for the Australian government's immigration departement, yeh? why have I got a strong feeling you're going to say "no"!

LOL - no its an independent web site by a now aussie immigrant - who plans to build a functional site for referring potential immigrants to the RMA's. he has great ideas and dreams but a low budget.

I wish it were for the government then I could get paid a very good amount,

I am helping this guy out to get the design and functionality happening - so i can use it as another previous jobs showpeice. he pays me for 50 hours - I end up doing about 75 to 100 hours - in the economic climate I am happy - and he is happy - and if he is successful - well the business relationship just pans out from there.

almost all programming and development has a certain amount of carry forward type code - so I can re-use scripts and sections again in the future - so my investment in time pays off in the future - as does my previous code, that i can reuse here with adgustments pays off now, in this job.

Fadi - I am an excessive type of guy - so for 11 years I have been excessive for Jesus as a Born Again Christian fundamentalist, so thats why it is listed like that - also I dont like to promote I know anything else, more than Jesus - so it is written in my comments that way.

I guess as I was surprised at your other skills and interests and the level of professionalism - you too did not promote them - you put God first. I admire poeple who stand firm by there beliefs - not blindly but by being a student and studying the subject well, to know ones own heart and beliefs and know what foundation they are on.

You're spot on there Kev; all praise is due to God.

Having said that, you are very blessed in what you do and you're doing a mighty fine job of it. Well done.

Nice looking site! :)

May I be so humble to suggest some small improvements since you asked? :)

I'm just being pedantic, as most of these things are just improvements to what is already a great site, that would stand on it's own anyway

You may find better SEO if you place the page title in the title tags at the front, without 'Immigrate to Australia' and 'auswork.com' surrounding the Title of the page .. I think the auswork.com is redundant as well. Although some argue the page title after the site title, if you look at listings in google, having the page title at the front also makes it more human readable for results.

If you can, removing the case in page links, and replacing the spacing with dash .. so /Skilled%20Sponsored%20176.asp becomes /skilled-sponsored-176.asp, will also help with seo, and a more friendly link format, that is also human readable.

Links to the home page should probably just link to / rather than to default.asp, just to be pedantic, as well as the site title just links to a page anchor # atm ... you probably know all this anyway as you say it's in process ..

Saying all that, the source is all css driven, and this makes for nice clean code layout for google to lap right up, however you will find improvement if your HTML validates (there are some issues that you could easily fix if you check out http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fauswork.com ) where you can see them. This will also help to ensure you have better cross browser support.

Use an alt attribute or use a LABEL on imput forms, this helps screen readers.

I would also look at using references in CSS and your pages to absolutes, such as /image/image.png rather than image/image.png, as this ensures cached images are not reloaded.

On the topic of images, naming images with human readable names also helps SEO. Using keywords where-ever you can, including css attribute names helps (well doesn't hurt)

I like the design :) I also like that you are providing alternatives in a PDF to the DOC format ;) (well this is a gov requirement anyway, but always good to say again;)

well done mate :)

Cheers Thanks for the feed back - I agree with it all - at present there has no seo work done - I would normally go back over it for that. but human readable makes sense - i didnt even say anything to him when he gave me the page names - so I will change them.

I am working on the backend that you cant see - I have built a light newsletter subscription database management, and login and access level management system so far.

Next week I plan - to get the forms done for online lodgement into a MSSQL database, for the RMA's to look at. and the potential employers will be able to see only some details.

Thanks again - its amazing when you are actually in something you can miss even some small basics.

oh yea I can believe it, it's easy to do when looking at things holistically, but as you said, it's a work in progress, so I thought maybe I am covering some stuff you already know.

Your writing everything from scratch? Are their frameworks available for ASP for rapid development?
